What Did You Have For Lunch Today?

Recently I've been wanting to be a little more creative with my recipes. I love Ezekiel Tortillas toasted over the stove in a non stick skillet (Teflon free). I didn't start incorporating Collard Greens into my alkaline vegan diet until recently. So I decided to add them to my wraps and boy was it a good choice! Here's the ingredients you'll need: Ezikiel Tortillas, (buy them at a health food store, I haven't seen them at Vons. But yes at Trader Joe's and Sprouts) Trader Joes Vegan Mayo or whatever mayo or sauce you choose Collard greens, spicy sprouts, cherry tomatoes Organic Salsa  Red Onions (chopped), bell pepper (red or orange for more flavor) Garbanzo beans Grapeseed oil and spices First we want to get the Garbanzo bean saute going so it'll be ready for the last step: In a small pot or skillet, warm up Grapeseed oil, saute red onions and bell pepper until soft and translucent, add your spices (I like to add sea salt, pepper, red pepp...

I'm back. Seven years later

Ok so I just came on here because I have recently received two emails from someone who has posted a comment. It got me thinking... I totally forgot about this outlet I had started while trying to rebuild mine on Wordpress. The thing is, I don't have time and I haven't been able to put it up in time. So I came on here to check this out and maybe I will just use this to get my thoughts and ideas out and then I'll go from there =) So Hello again!! I just changed my password and deleted a bunch of posts that someone else has posted here on this blog. therefore, hacking my account. ahhh! I'm so sorry I had no idea of this. It will not happen again though. My password has changed! My prior website I had going was lifestylewhynot.com but I will just continue on here where I left off. Hope you are all having a good week so far! HEALTHKICK! How did you all start your Morning today? **I started mine by drinking distilled water and then juicing a celery bundle. Drinking j...

Garlic and Acne

Garlic has antibiotic properties. Mash up 8 cloves and apply to your face for about 15 minutes, then wash off with a warm cloth. It's an excellent treatment for pimples and acne Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Rise and shine

I usually wake up hungry so the first thing I'll have is a cup of coffee. I would like to eat something right away, but if I do that then I'm a little too full for my morning java and it doesn't taste as great. I put creamer to make it tastier and I estimate my calorie intake is about 100 calories. Now to get the real benefits of coffee: I read that drinking it black is the way to go. About 30 minutes later I'll eat some fruit that I already have cut up in the fridge. It makes you full, it's a healthier option, and you'll feel light and fit. When I'm on the go... My coffee goes in a to-go mug and I put some fruit in a zip-lock bag to bring with me. Viola! I'm ready to start my day Just remember: Too much caffeine is not good for you. I love coffee, so I don't drink anymore then 2 cups a day. I try not to drink any caffeine past 3pm. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

The Post Work-Out

So yes! I do go out sometimes and like to have a good time. So for those of us that end up feeling a bit woozy the next day, sweating it out and getting your blood flowing is a great cure. This was my work-out yesterday: At Ballys =)     1. Stretch 2. 40 sit ups on the bench      3. The treadmill for 30 minutes. My goal here is to sweat. I was dreading doing cardio but this is the only way for me to cure my hangover. -  So I walked on incline (8.0) for five minutes - brought the inline down to 2.0 and jogged at speed of 5.4 for fifteen minutes. If was feeling pretty confident, so I raised the incline to 4.0 every five minutes or so and jogged at the same speed for one minute. Then brought it back down. So far that's 20 minutes total! Now for the next 10 minutes I did sprints. This is where I really break a sweat! I took the speed to 6.7 and sprinted until I was running out of breath - bring the speed back down a bit - rest - now sprint agai...

Women are Unique

Sometimes as women we go through changes that we can't explain, and we wonder if anyone else is also having the same issue. As I was reading USA Weekend I found some very interesting information for all the ladies out there...... Including myself! Now I know why =) As I do and I'm sure others do as well; I'm looking at my cell phone as I'm laying in bed before falling asleep. Well not anymore! ..... As women we need to wind down because bright lights can suppress the sleep hormone- Melatonin- which makes us more alert and a good night's rest is vital for us. What I do now is put my texts on silent and set my alarm before I get ready for bed. I won't look at it until the next morning and yes! I actually do feel more rested.   When we're tired or have low energy it usually has an effect on how we treat the ones that are closest to us. (our spouse for example) It triggers tension.  But what's interesting - when guys don't get adequate sleep it doesn...
