Sometimes as women we go through changes that we can't explain, and we wonder if anyone else is also having the same issue. As I was reading USA Weekend I found some very interesting information for all the ladies out there...... Including myself! Now I know why =)
- As I do and I'm sure others do as well; I'm looking at my cell phone as I'm laying in bed before falling asleep. Well not anymore! ..... As women we need to wind down because bright lights can suppress the sleep hormone- Melatonin- which makes us more alert and a good night's rest is vital for us. What I do now is put my texts on silent and set my alarm before I get ready for bed. I won't look at it until the next morning and yes! I actually do feel more rested. When we're tired or have low energy it usually has an effect on how we treat the ones that are closest to us. (our spouse for example) It triggers tension.
- But what's interesting - when guys don't get adequate sleep it doesn't effect them. I've asked other guys about this and it does effect them but notice that it doesn't trigger tension between their girl - UNLESS there is a reason for it.
- Stop Smoking!! heart disease is much higher in women than men. I know smoking is much lower now among women but there is still plenty women I see smoking. On average a women smokes less than a guy but women are still at higher risk than men. A women can smoke 3 a day and a man can smoke 6 a day, but it's the woman that will be effected more negativly. Not Fair! I don't smoke and I certainly don't plan on starting.
- It makes your teeth yellow. You'll look great and your teeth will be white!
- Here's a tip: Before applying toothpaste to your tooth-brush, dip your tooth-brush in baking soda and THEN apply toothpaste on top. Brush your teeth. Guarantee they will get whiter. I've been doing this for years and I have everyone (even dentists!) telling me how white my teeth are. I don't smoke and I don't drink soda occasionally.
- And most importantly. Exercise is key! Our metabolism works slower then our gender counterpart. We should be eating 30% less than men. I notice that when my friends, co-workers, and other females tend to gain weight when we're in a relationship. It's cause we are going out to eat more and eating just as much as our mate. So getting exercise throughout our day will keep us feeling good and confident about our bodies. Park further away from the stores, take the stairs, do some knee push ups at home during commercial breaks, eat half of what your mate eats, and we'll be better off =)
- I TRY to share meals with my boyfriend. Sometimes he's hungry so I can't change that. If that's the case I'll bring myself home some left-overs to eat later. I don't know about anyone else.... But I love left-overs! The American meal, in general, is more than enough for two people.
I read again about the sleep deprivation in another article. Women we need our beauty rest! =)
